It is this scene that you have to focus on and write about in your assignment - you will have to write about the dramatic techniques that a director might use to portray the different characters and to get across the intended message and effect of the play.

In your description, make sure you address:

THE SET

   back drop

lighting (spotlights, fade in/ out, colours, shadows, full) + cues

music and sound effects + cues

   costume

   props

THE ACTION

   entrances and exits

position and movement - the blocking of your scene and how the groups makes use of the available space - including different levels and places in the auditorium

contrasts (e.g. lighting, pace or volume) to enhance the dramatic effect.

THE PORTRAYAL OF THE CHARACTERS BY THE ACTOR

   stance

   body language

   delivery of speeches

Explain how you would use these things to enhance the dramatic effect of your scene.

What is the climax of the scene, and how have you made it special?
