It has been suggested that the sets and clothing in the film were inspired by Chaplin's memories of the Easy Street market in the area of London where he was born.

2.  Make notes on the moral culture portrayed in the film.

3.  Use what you have noticed to write 250 words on: 'Easy Street; an interpretation of America at the start of the 20th Century'.  Finish with a paragraph about how valid this interpretation is likely to be, given its author and intentions.
