Devoted to God

Introduction

Some men and women decided to devote their whole lives to God.  They became monks and nuns.

They took vows of poverty (to be poor), obedience (to obey) and chastity (not to marry).

There were different kinds of monks and nuns, but most followed the 'threefold rule' and spent their day working, studying and praying.
